AUT is New Zealand's most contemporary university, with a unique profile reflecting its history and innovative approaches to teaching, learning and research.
AUT is currently New Zealand's 14th largest acquirer of PCs, which are leased on average for three years. AUT had in the past benchmarked the costs of IT equipment but not service levels. When the Memorandum of Understanding with AUT's incumbent supplier of desktop and laptop computer was due to expire, AUT felt this was a an opportune time to test the market, determine what services would be supplied and how they would be supplied.
AUT engaged Management Toolbox to undertake a complete review of its desktop solutions across its three locations around Auckland. Management Toolbox associates Tanya Reid and Tina Miller were asked to focus on providing a cost-effective hardware and service solution to AUT with the intention of entering into a supply agreement with a party who could identify opportunities to maintain and improve performace as well as significantly reduce/manage costs.
